Oh am I tired. It's 10am at a Mcdonalds near the National Gallery, where I plan to visit next. Yesterday I rented a bike that I have for 24 hours (until 1 today) and then I rode around seeing Tower bridge, the Tower of London, Big Ben again, St. Paul's Cathedral, etc. etc. I went to Tate Modern where I got to look at works by Pablo Picasso, Monet and more. Sadly by the time I got to the National Gallery it was closed so I'm going to try and visit it this morning. Then after returning the bike I plan on hopping a train and heading south to Canterbury where I will spend a night or two a little quieter before heading into France. London has been very fun but my feet are sore and tired, it's noisy, traffic is crazy (especially when biking and trying to ride on the left side of the road), the Hostels are generally pretty full and you can get lost to easy.... I say that because I ended up very lost last night. After trying to bike to the National Gallery and finding it closed I realized that the bike map I had of London ends about 4 miles west of where my hostel is... and seeing as how two nights ago the directions I had were from the nearest underground station, and I can't take my bike on the underground... I um... kinda had to guess and follow my nose. Which works well for the most part, except... well... I think riding on the left side of the road confuses me, but more-so are all the roundies. Round-a-bouts galore abound in London and so rather than being able to just ride East I'd have to do these little circles and then chose which of the three, or four, or five roads off the roundie led the right way.. which get's confusing quite soon. Nonetheless I did find my way, albeit after about an extra hour or so more than planned. This morning was better, I found a much more direct path, though still probably lost 15 minutes or so getting lost on the way back. So ya. Hopefully I won't get as lost in Canterbury... it is a smaller town so I'm not to worried, but ya never know. Anyway I'm going to go see the National Gallery...stay tuned!
