Where to start in Europe

When traveling to Europe one of the biggest questions is where to start? A not so simple answer is: wherever you want to go. This though is of course very dependent on money and time. Whether you are traveling in Europe for a week, a month, or a year will greatly factor into where you start. Here is my simple advice as to where you can start your trip.

Figure out how long you want to go, and how much you want to see.

-If you plan on being there a short amount of time then you probably are only visiting a small area of Europe. In fact you are probably only visiting a small area of one country. In this case I would say fly to the nearest airport. Yes, it might not be the cheapest, but it will be the most direct.

-If you plan on going for a longer period of time, most likely you want to see more. In this case you should start factoring in how cheap specific airports are to fly into. Usually bigger airports are cheaper than smaller airports. So if you plan on going to multiple cities and countries try to start at a large airport for the cheapest cost. Starting at a larger city also provides the benefits of giving you many accommodation options, access to travel information, money exchanging places, stores that you can buy what you forgot at, along with an easier place to orient yourself.

Nonetheless, this still doesn't tell you where to start.
